I’ve started writing about the impact of Story Work on my parenting

 Second Chance Parenting

What do you do when you realize that how you parented your children was deeply flawed?

That you messed up? The way you raised your children has done them a disservice? The good news is that it’s not too late; parenting is not a ‘one and done’ event. Instead, the gospel speaks to all of our failings as parents with grace and a chance for redemption, both with God and with our children.

In the book I’m writing I share that despite my best intentions and efforts to raise my children well, 13 years into parenting, I hit a wall. Through story work, I discovered how my own childhood trauma had impacted me in detrimental ways, and I realized that my parenting needed an overhaul. I hope to offer readers a lens through which to understand and embrace the gospel rhythms of repentance and forgiveness in parenting, providing tangible hope in the process of restoration.

I wrote a little bit about this in a recent article in Risen Motherhood, I hope you’ll take the time to read it

The Hope in Forgiveness
